How can we help you?

Trading Platform

What do the different key figures in my account mean?

Answer

When you log in to your account, you will see six different numbers in your 'Account overview', in the top part of the screen. In the app, this is visible after tapping on the number in the centre of the top blue bar. Below, you can find a detailed description of what each number means and how they are connected to each other.

Accordion

The total value of your account. It represents the balance on your cash account and the total value of all the positions in your portfolio (the value of your investments plus your cash).

This is the current balance on the cash account. If this value is negative, this means that you are borrowing money from us to finance your investments. The interest for this loan depends on whether or not the loan has been allocated beforehand. Please refer to our Image removed.Fee Schedule for more information on these fees.

The sum of the value of all your current investments. This also includes foreign currencies and the compensation for the negative interest on your cash account.

This figure is the total profit or loss on your account for the current trading day, calculated against the last closing price of the products you hold. It resets every day at midnight.

This figure refers to the total profit or loss since you opened your DEGIRO account. It includes realised and unrealised gains and losses on securities as well as dividends, currency fluctuations and trading fees.

This represents how much money you still have available to invest with. With a Basic profile, this balance is equal to the balance shown above EUR/GBP/CHF.

However, if you have a Basic profile with margin enabled, an Active or Trader profile, this balance includes your available margin or credit. If the value is negative, you are in deficit and could receive a margin call to resolve the deficit. This deficit can be resolved by either depositing more money or by restructuring your portfolio.

For more information, please see «I am trading on margin and now my account is in deficit. What should I do?».
