Can I hold multiple currencies on my DEGIRO account?

Yes, it is possible to hold multiple currencies on your DEGIRO account.

To do this, enable manual currency conversion in your Currency Conversion settings. Once you have set a currency to Manual FX, we will not perform automatic conversions between that currency and your account's base currency.

? Funds held in other currencies will be shown in your Portfolio tab.

Good to know

  • It may take a few minutes for our trading systems to fully process a switch from Auto FX to Manual FX or vice versa. Therefore, please allow around 5 minutes of processing time when placing an order in a foreign currency after changing your foreign currency settings.
  • Open orders are not affected by a currency changeover. If you placed an order in a foreign currency while Auto FX was enabled, the funds for that order will be automatically converted when the order is filled, regardless of whether you have disabled Auto FX in the meantime.

When a currency is set to Manual FX, a foreign currency money account is opened. This will be visible in a separate line in your portfolio.

Please note that deposits and withdrawals can only be made in the base currency of your account. This means that funds you wish to withdraw will first have to be converted to your base currency.

You do this by means of a currency transaction. You can do this in the trading platform by clicking on the arrow next to 'Place order'. In the DEGIRO app, press the plus symbol and then choose 'Other orders'.
